Being a Castleberry Lion for the last month has been a rewarding experience. As I reflect on the last month as the Principal of Castleberry High School, I have found that Castleberry Lions are: 1) dedicated, 2) hard workers, 3) enthusiastic, and 4) focused. Whether it was 6:45AM watching our football boys put their heart and soul into their drills, the hard working office staff quickly preparing for student registration, or our custodial staff working diligently to make the school a warm and welcoming environment for our students and staff, the heart of Castleberry Lions is evident in their work.

When coach Cantu announced to the football team that I was their new principal a number of players got up from their stance on the field and rushed to shake my hand and introduce themselves, with warm smiles and a strong handshake. I was so impressed at the level of respect and gratitude that they showed me as their principal. At that moment, I could not be any more proud to be their leader, their mentor, and provide them with a positive place to come to school every day.  Thank you Coach Cantu for instilling this level of  respect in your young men.

When I visited the cheerleaders last week at cheer camp at TCU I had the same feelings. The bright smile on the girls faces when they saw our Assistant Principal, Cameron Burton and I arrive to watch them practice melted my heart. As we walked away from the TCU campus, I told my Ms. Burton that seeing the smiles on our student's faces is what I live for as their principal. I am so honored to take this journey with our students and staff. I know that Castleberry High Scholl has an amazing staff/student body and I look forward to getting to know everyone as this new school year begins.

What an exciting year to be the new principal of Castleberry High School! There are so many positive things going on that demonstrate the hard work of CHS teachers and students. In May, Castleberry High School was spotlighted as one of eleven schools in the state to be a part of a best practices case studies project. The case study highlights how each campus, designated by TEA as High Performing and High Progress Title I Reward Schools, excel in critical areas such as academic performance, teacher quality, school climate, and leadership effectiveness. The 2015-2016 school year will be a great journey and we look forward to welcoming students back to school in only five short weeks!
